Summary/Objective

This role is responsible for overseeing all software architecture-related aspects of Texas811s various software applications. The Software Architect is responsible for researching, reviewing, and making recommendations on any new corporate software applications or innovations from a perspective of design, integration, and technical fit with other systems. For existing applications, the Software Architect will oversee all planning, designing, programming, and implementation of any in-house software development. For software enhancements provided by an external vendor, the Software Architect will take the lead role in reviewing and discussing all technical solution designs to ensure they meet the needs of Texas811. In addition, the Software Architect will act as the lead developer for other in-house Texas811 development staff. This will require the Software Architect to produce and maintain development practices and procedures and mentor/coach other development staff in these areas.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with other professionals to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new and existing software or applications
  • Work within a cross-functional Agile team to develop, design, and architect solutions in a highly iterative fashion
  • Initiate and drive DevOps and QA improvements, enhancements, and automation
  • Develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility
  • Translate high-level business requirements into system requirements that guide the blueprint for design and development teams
  • Become an expert in the end-to-end aspects of the products and services, and use this expertise in product enhancement discussions
  • Assist in the architectural integrity of our products and identify problematic areas in current implementations
  • Define all aspects of development, from appropriate technology and workflow to coding standards
  • Successfully communicate all concepts and guidelines to the development team
  • Ensure software meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, expansibility, etc.
  • Actively seek improvements to business software processes and interactions
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to all staff and contractors
  • Design and maintain complex software architectures according to software engineering best practices
  • Approve final products before launch

Work Environment

This job operates primarily in a professional office environment. Therefore, this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

 

 

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or similar fields is preferred; or work history equivalent
  • Excellent knowledge of software and application design and architecture
  • Experience in Cloud-based systems to architect, build and deploy micro services-base applications (Azure preferred)
  • Proven experience as a software architect
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and processes
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English fluently
  • Responsibilities may include other tasks needed to help support Texas811
  • Available when needed
