Varsity Boys Basketball Assistant Coach

We are looking for a dedicated coach and Christ follower to be our Varsity Basketball Boys Assistant Coach for the 2025-2026 school year. TCA’s Athletic Department utilizes sports and competition to teach transformational, life-giving biblical truths to each student-athlete. As a coach at TCA you will not only help student athletes improve their athletic ability, you will remind them of the importance of academics, instill a Christian work ethic (Col. 3:23) and help strengthen their faith in Christ.

General Responsibilities

• Attend basketball practices during the pre-season and season
• Help plan and organize practices
• Assist with game film breakdown and HUDL scouting, film uploads, requests and general scouting of opponents
• Plan warm-up, conditioning, basketball drills for practice
• Attend pep rally when the Varsity Boys Basketball team is recognized
• Help document and plan weekly biblical character lessons with Team Chaplain
• Attend all Varsity Boys Basketball games
• Assist with ordering for all basketball uniforms
• Responsible for basketball tryouts for Varsity Boys
• Manage miscellaneous items
• Assist in organizing and leading parent meetings
• Communicate with parents on a weekly basis (scheduling, updates etc.)
• Ability to motivate and improve performance of athletes

Qualifications

• A strong commitment to the positive development of the basketball program at TCA
• Ability to instill teamwork and community within a group of athletes pointing them to Christ
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working with upper school athletes in basketball
• Knowledge of the sport of basketball
• Ability to build a good rapport with student and parents
• Agree with and support TCA’s Doctrinal, Biblical and Mission statements and Christian values

Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements

• Eye-hand, mind-eye coordination, physical dexterity
• Ability to bend, stoop, squat, jump and run
• Normal physical demands of coaching
• Night and weekend hours required
