We are looking for a dedicated coach and Christ follower to be the Varsity Football Program Head Coach for the 2025-26 school year. TCA’s Athletic Department utilizes sports and competition to teach transformational, life-giving biblical truths to each student-athlete. As the head football coach, you will direct Varsity and Middle School Football assistant coaches and student athletes as they build a football team that honors the Lord with all of their soul, mind and strength. The football program helps student athletes improve their football skills, reminds them of the importance of academics, instills a Christian work ethic (Col. 3:23) and helps strengthen their faith in Christ.
General Responsibilities
- Lead TCA football teams with a positive, proactive attitude that reflects Christian principles
- Responsible for the overall development of TCA's Varsity football program, including coordination of a systematic progression of skill development between Middle School and Upper School
- Serve as Double-Goal Coach who strives to win, while pursuing the equally important goal of teaching life-lessons
- Develop a football program that emphasizes skill mastery and rewards great effort
- Cultivate the emotional health of the team with encouragement and positive reinforcement as the primary tool for motivation
- Partner with the Athletic Chaplain in leading the player development and discipleship program for TCA football
- Lead the development of TCA's youth football coaches through various camps, clinics and meetings
- Develop interest in TCA's football program with the lower and middle school students and parents
- Plan and implement schedules, team activities, practices, game plans, off-season training, summer activities, player development and discipleship in the Christian faith
- Prepare a playbook outlining terminology, strategies and philosophy for the TCA football program
- Coordinate, supervise and maintain all uniforms and equipment
- Set the schedule for practices and games for Varsity, JV, 9th and Middle School football teams
- Demonstrate the fruits of the spirit (Gal. 5:22-23) in daily work, and interactions with colleagues and others
Qualifications
- BA or BS required, with preference for background in education, sports science, kinesiology or the like
- A strong commitment to the positive development of the football program at TCA
- Ability to instill teamwork and community within a group of athletes pointing them to Christ
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience coaching high school boys in football
- Ability to build a good rapport with students and parents
- Played a college sport is preferred but not required
- Previous experience as a high school head coach or coordinator is preferred
- Familiarity with TAPPS rules for football is preferred
- Have a willing heart for service (Ephesians 6:7)
- Agree with and support TCA's Doctrinal, Biblical and Mission statements, passion, vision and Christian values
Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements
- Normal physical demands of coaching (including, but not limited to standing, reaching, stooping, squatting down, kneeling, running, throwing, bending, jumping and lifting)
- Possess excellent eye-hand, mind-eye coordination and physical dexterity
- Ability to work long hours, mostly outdoors; evening and weekend hours required
- Must be able to give, receive and analyze information, prepare written materials and input information into computer.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with colleagues, students and parents, answering questions in a professional and friendly manner.
- Willing to partner with parents to provide an exceptional education athletically, spiritually and socially; committed to educate and develop the whole person for the glory of God
