Trinity Christian Academy is looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic and knowledgeable employee to join our education community who meets the following criteria:

  • Has a passion for their areas of specialty, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with students and parents

Qualifications

We are looking for a dedicated teacher and Christ follower to teach Eleventh Grade American Humanities for the 2024-2025 school year. Eleventh Grade American Humanities focuses on American history and literature in an integrated course beginning with the colonization and development of our nation and continuing to the present day. In addition, the course explores the rich heritage of the literature and arts of American culture through major novels, American short stories, poems and historical documents. This course emphasizes rhetorical and writing skills through original compositions and analytical essays. Students may choose to take the AP US and AP Lang/composition tests offered at the end of this course for possible college credit.

General Responsibilities

  • Full-time teaching load 
  • Teach two sections of double period (4 class periods) of Eleventh Grade American Humanities
  • Grade and record all applicable assignments
  • Work cohesively with other members of the Upper School Humanities staff and be a team-orientated player
  • Build a good rapport with students
  • Demonstrate the fruits of the spirit (Gal. 5:22-23) in daily work, and interactions with colleagues and others

Required Education, Experience and Qualifications 

  • Degree in History or English with equivalent of a minor in the other
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Experience in teaching History or English is required
  • Experience in teaching high school students is required
  • Have a willing heart for service (Ephesians 6:7)
  • Agree with and support TCA’s Doctrinal, Biblical and Mission statements and Christian values

Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements

  • Normal physical demands of teaching (including, but not limited to, standing, reaching, stooping, squatting down, kneeling, and occasional lifting)
  • Must be able to give, receive and analyze information, prepare written materials and input information into a computer
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with colleagues, students and parents, answering questions in a professional and friendly manner
  • Strong communication skills required
