Trinity Christian Academy is looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic and knowledgeable employee to join our education community who meets the following criteria:

  • Has a passion for their areas of specialty, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with students and parents

Qualifications

We are looking for a dedicated coach and Christ follower to provide strength and conditioning coaching for our students for the 2023-2024 school year. TCA’s Athletic Department utilizes sports and competition to teach transformational, life giving biblical truths to each student-athlete. As a coach at TCA you will not only help student athletes improve their athletic ability, you will remind them of the importance of academics, instill a Christian work ethic and help strengthen their faith in Christ. General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strength and conditioning program for all sports with a focus on maximizing athletic performance, reducing athletic injuries and educating students on the lifelong benefits of exercise, healthy nutrition habits and maintaining a healthy lifestyle in a manner that reflects research driven practices and in conjunction with TCA’s long term Athletic/Fitness Development Model
  • Use analytics and sound scientific principles to devise training plans
  • Supervise training sessions, evaluate athletes, maintain performance data and teach strength and conditioning classes as needed
  • Collaborate with coaches, athletic trainers, parents, students and medical professionals when working with injured athletes or those engaged in rehabilitation
  • Maintains the strength and conditioning facility and works with athletic and other administrators to develop policies, plans and procedures for the safe and professional operation of the facility
  • Demonstrate a positive, proactive attitude that reflects Christian principles when interacting with student athletes
  • Ability to build a good rapport with student-athletes
  • Ability to instill teamwork and community within a group of athletes pointing them to Christ
  • Work in cooperation with the sports medicine or athletic training staff in the rehabilitation, strengthening and tracking of progress of injured athletes
  • Facilitate a collaborative relationship among sport coaches, sports medicine and the strength and conditioning staff
  • Design and implement policies and procedures for the strength and conditioning program in accordance with the NSCA Strength and Conditioning Professional Standards Guidelines
  • Develop systems for tracking athlete attendance and athlete progress in conjunction with the sport coaches
  • Conduct an annual needs analysis for each sport team in conjunction with the program head coach and the athletic trainer(s) at the conclusion of each sport season
  • Annually conduct and review a departmental risk management plan
  • Complete an annual budgetary proposal for the program that includes routine maintenance, purchase of new equipment and staffing needs
  • Determine and reinforce expectations for athlete conduct that mirrors TCA’s expectations for curricular and extra curricular activities, as stated in the Mission Statement and Parent-Student Handbook
  • Create and oversee professional development activities for program head coaches
  • Create and sustain a Christ-centered, positive, competitive, growth driven culture of excellence in all team workout activities
  • Oversight of the upkeep, maintenance and cleanliness of the strength and conditioning facilities

Required Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology or related field
  • Experience and/or expertise in strength and conditioning programming for high school students
  • Certified in first aid, CPR and in the use of automated external defibrillation (AED)
  • Ability to motivate and develop a positive environment for student athletes
  • Demonstrate superior organizational and oral and written communication skills
  • Agree with and support TCA’s Doctrinal, Biblical and Mission statements and Christian values

Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to demonstrate the appropriate skills and techniques to be used by the student athletes
  • Ability to visually monitor student athletes
  • Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling and moving equipment/boxes up to 50 lbs.
  • Must know how to operate strength training equipment, automated external defibrillator (AED), and sports aid equipment
  • Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature and surface environments - surfaces will vary from concrete to grass to hard wood floors
  • Willing to work both inside and outside
  • Must be self motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision
  • Some evening and weekend work will be expected
