Summary: This position ensures that the highest quality of guest service and satisfaction is provided to our guests. Performs massage therapy techniques to control pain, reduce stress, and promote relaxation in a luxury destination spa. Obtains the basic medical history, assesses any problems or conditions, and suggests appropriate massage techniques for guest needs.

Essential Functions:

  1. Direct Guest interaction to ensure the highest quality of guest service is being provided.
  2. The ZaSpa stresses a team concept to attain the highest levels of service for our Clients. To help our staff attain these ideals, we conduct an extensive training program during your first two months.
  3. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  4. Provides guests with a thorough and knowledgeable 50- or 80-minute professional massage.
  5. Demonstrates respect, sensitivity, and concern for guests' needs with a professional and pleasant manner
  6. Practices universal health care protocol while dealing with guests and coworkers.
  7. Maintains schedules and work hours as they are booked
  8. Answer all guests questions and concerns and ensuring that all communication is professional and friendly.
  9. Remain calm and alert, especially during emergency and /or heavy hotel activity. Field guest complaints, conducting thorough research to develop the most effective solutions and negotiate results by using good judgment and discretion.
  10. Greet customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome. Use a positive and clear speaking voice, address the guest by name, and listen carefully to understand requests, respond with appropriate action and provide accurate information.
  11. Communicate effectively to provide clear direction to other associates and Guests.
  12. Regular attendance in conformance with the standards is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  13. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry and report deadlines, employee may be required to work varying schedules to meet the business needs of the hotel and report deadlines. This may include weekends and holidays.
  14. Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities.
  15. Report all suspicious persons or actions, hazardous conditions, etc. to Security or management immediately
  16. Follow all proper grooming guidelines as set by Hotel standards.
  17. Assist in other areas of the Spa where applicable.
  18. Customer service is performed with enthusiasm and friendliness with a willingness to help others.
  19. Sets up and breaks down assigned massage room;
  20. Completes and submits necessary paperwork, checks mailbox, and reads posted notices on bulletin board
  21. Attends monthly departmental meetings and workshops as directed.
  22. Exercises dependability and willingness to work with schedule flexibility.
  23. Participates in continuing education and maintains a minimum of 8 CEUs per year.
  24. Maintain a safe and sanitary treatment room and equipment
  25. Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  26. Meet weekly sales goals by up-selling products and treatments to Prospects and Guests
  27. Must have completed courses in anatomy and physiology from a college or AMTA accredited/approved massage school.
  28. Must be able to perform a 50-minute and 80-minute comprehensive Swedish massage, using professional draping techniques; additional knowledge of other techniques is preferable.
  29. Must be able to interact professionally and with sensitivity to the needs of the guests and co-workers.
  30. Must be dependable and able to adjust to schedule changes, including cancellations and additions.
  31. Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.

Working Conditions:

  1. Interior of hotel, normal office conditions

Qualifications

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Stand; Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Walk;
  • Use hands to handle, or feel;
  • Reach with hands and arms;
  • Climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl;
  • Lift, carry and/or move up to 25 pounds or more. Ability to push and pull objects
  • Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect sign of emergency situations.

Qualifications:

Education: May require a high school diploma or equivalent

Requires a massage therapist certification

Experience: Must also be licensed in the city/state where they are or intend to be practicing.

Licenses or certificates:

A minimum of 2 years spa experience is preferred as well as retail experience. Must possess minimum of 500 hours of massage training from an AMTA accredited/approved massage school.
