Qualifications

Purpose of the Position:

The Director of Project Management is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the project management team's operations including defining strategy, structure, and processes to support key initiatives aimed at enhancing project quality and operational efficiency. This role will build and manage the Project Management team, establishing robust processes for growth that align with Kannegiesser ETECH Core Values: We Care, Do What’s Right, Team Player, Positive Influence, and Driven to Achieve.

Crucial to accelerating the operational integration and transformation of the team, the Director of Project Mangement will develop processes and improvements and proactively drive change to ensure adoption and sustainability, and promote best practices, templates, and tools to enhance departmental learning and development.

Additionally, the Director of Project Management will work across departments and organizations to ensure alignment in processes, standardization of operations, and execution of key initiatives. They will collaborate closely with executive leaders to optimize strategic initiatives, providing support and leadership throughout.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Vision:

  • Develop a cohesive vision for the future growth and operation of the department and develop action plan to execute aligned with EOS framework.
  • Introduce or refine exisiting methods, technologies, or practices to improve project management effectiveness and efficiency and aligning project management strategies with the organization’s long-term goals and vision.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities before they arise and make or recommend adjustments accordingly.
  • Ensuring that projects contribute to the overall strategic objectives of Kannegiesser ETECH.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve project management processes and tools. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.

Leadership:

  • Guide and inspire the project management team to embrace and work towards the strategic vision.
  • Lead, mentor, and drive accountability for the team of project managers. 
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the project management department.
  • Define clear, attainable objectives and milestones that align with the broader strategy.

Project Management: 

  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Manage resources efficiently across projects, balancing workloads and optimizing team performance. Identify and resolve any resource gaps or issues.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate risks and minimize their impact on project outcomes.

Client-Focused Approach:

  • Ensure that project deliverables meet customer expectations and specifications. 
  • Tailor project strategies, deliverables, and solutions to fit and exceed the needs of customers while ensuring that the final project outcomes provide tangible value and benefits to both customers and KE.
  • Gather and incorporate customer and internal feedback to improve project outcomes.

Reporting and Communication: 

  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders to understand their needs, manage expectations, and keep them informed of project progress and issues.
  • Communicate changes in project scope, timelines, priorities, or resources clearly to all relevant parties to manage impact and ensure smooth transitions.
  • Facilitate clear and open communication within the project management team to ensure alignment, collaboration, and efficient workflow.
  • Address and resolve conflicts or issues promptly through effective communication, ensuring that solutions are understood and implemented.
  • Offer constructive feedback and guidance to project managers and team members to support their development and improve project outcomes.
  • Providing regular, concise, and accurate project status updates to senior management and other key stakeholders.

Financial Acumen:

  • Develop and oversee project budgets, ensuring that spending aligns with the approved financial plans and making adjustments as needed.
  • Monitor and ensure that projects deliver financial value and meet the expected return on investment by aligning project goals with organizational financial objectives without compromising quality or scope.
  • Project future financial needs and constraints, and revise plan accordingly to avoid budget overruns and financial issues.
  • Allocate financial resources efficiently across projects to maximize return on investment and support strategic priorities.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial reports and analyses to stakeholders, including cost variances, forecasts, and financial performance metrics.

 

Academic & Trade Qualifications (required & preferred):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or other relevant certifications are highly desirable.
  • Have or ability to obtain OSHA 10 certification.

 

Work Experience & Skills (required & preferred):

  • At least 10 years of experience in project management, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership or managerial position.
  • Proven experience in change management, including developing and implementing change strategies, leading change initiatives, and guiding teams through transitions.
  • Deep understanding of various project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Scrum) and experience in their application.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with stakeholders at all levels, including team members, customers, and leadership including ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively. 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience creating spheres of influence in highly matrixed organizations and working effectively  within cross-functional project teams.

Machinery & Technology Experience & Skills:

  • Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook, Teams, Excel, etc.).
  • Project management software experience (preferably Trello).
  • Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks and AutoCAD).
  • Encompix and SAP familiarity (preferred but not required).


Physical Requirements:

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to enter text or data into a computer or other machine by means of a traditional keyboard or 10-Key.
  • Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (that is, working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers.
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech both in person, by telephone or other technology.
