Job Purpose: The Clinical Floor Lead will be responsible for assisting the Clinical Supervisor in addition to working in the clinic to fill any vacancies. The Clinical Floor Lead will also be a back-up to the Clinical Pod Trainer for staff training. This is a flexible working position.

Essential Functions: (Example of Duties)

  1. Assist in training, orientation and performance evaluations of clinical staff.
  2. Provide daily assignment schedules and lead pod huddles. 
  3. Primary contact for staff call outs and determining needs for assigned pod staff. 
  4. Responsible for observation of any staff retraining or correction training, to include Lead oversight. 
  5. Responsible for ensuring all timekeeping punches are entered and appropriate applied time and department code if applicable has been entered for final Clinical Supervisor approval for assigned Pod staff. 
  6. Communicate Pod needs and availability of staff to other leads as well as Clinical Supervisor to assist in other areas as needed. 
  7. Responsible for reviewing and determining department supply needs, via par levels and updating inventory to include ordering clinical supplies and immunizations for their assigned areas. 
  8. Serves as the first line of authority and advice for questions, troubleshooting and workflow issues. 
  9. Responsible for reporting any equipment malfunctions that may need repair or replacement to the Clinical Supervisor.
  10. Assist and participate in interviews, reviewing resumes, and making recommendations to hire candidates with the Clinical Supervisor.
  11. Responsible for verbal coaching and counseling of assigned clinical employees and reporting this to the Clinical Supervisor.
  12. Responsible for staying up to date with current training policies and procedures.
  13. Attends required meetings, in-service and participates in committee work as requested.
  14. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications

Job Requirements/Qualifications: (Describe minimum qualifications, preferred or required)

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of accredited Medical Assisting Program or Nationally Accredited Certification in Medical Assisting. Associates or Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Experience: Two year Clinical experience in an ambulatory clinic setting preferred and 1 year supervisory experience. 

Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of standard operating procedures for clinic operation. knowledge of safety practices and hazardous conditions to provide a safe work environment. knowledge of principles and practices of supervision. Ability to work effectively with external agencies, patients and staff. Ability to train and motivate employees. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Ability to adapt training to meet the learning needs of employees. Must be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills. Must be able to problem solve and exercise professional judgment and decision making skills. Must be able to adapt to change. Must possess a high emotional intelligence to help support the work environment and enhance overall team dynamics.

Licenses/Certifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Medical Assisting Degree or Diploma or valid Nursing License in the state of TN, if applicable. CPR certification from either the AHA or American Red Cross required.

Working Conditions: Exposure to communicable, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

Physical Demands: Ability to operate office and medical equipment, including computer, copier/fax machine, EKG/ECG etc. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. May be required to lift/transfer patients. Requires ability to bend and lift up to 50 pounds. Hearing and vision to normal range required. Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
