We are looking for a dedicated Christ follower to be the Middle School Choir Assistant. This is a part-time position (20 hours per week) for the 2025-2026 school year. The Performing Arts Departments at TCA allow students to pursue their creative passions and develop the talents and skills of each student while creating art that glorifies God and blesses those who experience it. You will play an integral part as you assist the Middle School Choir Director in teaching students music reading and performance skills.
General Responsibilities
- Accompany choir rehearsals and performances by playing pianoÂ
- Lead sectional rehearsals
- Assist with warm-ups by critically listening for tuning, diction and intonation
- Conduct the choirs when needed
- Chaperone trips and organize parent chaperone groups
- Assist in management of student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook
- Assist Middle School Choir Director with scheduling rehearsals, communication, ordering, and budget tracking
- Demonstrate the fruits of the spirit (Gal. 5:22-23) in daily work, and interactions with colleagues and others
Required Education, Experience and QualificationsÂ
- Bachelor’s degree in Music or Music Education
- Experience in teaching voice and singing in choirs
- Proficient as a pianist to accompany choirs or run a sectional rehearsal
- Experience or interest in classical education and traditional pedagogy
- Basic understanding of sight reading with ability to lead sectionals and classes as needed
- Experience in teaching Middle School students is strongly preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal; able to effectively communicate with large and small groups of students, colleagues and parents
- Have a willing heart for service (Ephesians 6:7)
- Agree with and support TCA’s Doctrinal, Biblical and Mission statements and Christian values
Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements
- Normal physical demands of teaching (including, but not limited to, standing, reaching, stooping, squatting down, kneeling, and occasional lifting)
- Must be able to give, receive and analyze information, prepare written materials and input information into a computer
- Must be able to effectively communicate with colleagues, students and parents, answering questions in a professional and friendly manner
- Willing to partner with parents to provide an exceptional education academically, spiritually and socially; committed to educate and develop the whole person for the glory of God
