Varsity Basketball Coach

Position Summary:

The Varsity Basketball Coach assists the head coach in carrying out assigned responsibilities. This position provides sports activity supervision, training and coaching to student athletes as assigned by the head coach.

Position Objective:

This position will use leadership, supervisory and teaching skills to promote the development of the individual program and student-athletes. He/she will teach and promote the glorification of God through the pursuit of excellence in athletics.

Essential Job Functions:

• Assists in implementing athletic objectives
• Assumes responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities
• Assumes supervisory control over athletes and teams assigned and over all athletes when such control is needed
• Be in regular attendance at all contests and practice sessions
• Applies discipline in a firm and positive manner
• Emphasizes safety precautions and is aware of best training procedures and injury preventative actions
• Conducts himself/herself in an ethical manner during contests and practice
• Instructs players in rules of the game, rule changes, new developments, and innovative ideas

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Works in a highly challenging environment dealing with a wide variety of deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts
• May work in outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
• Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials weighing 20 to 50 pounds
